In an endeavor to seek knowledge and raise awareness about the importance of Intellectual Property Perspective Patent Researching and Drafting a 3-day training workshop was conducted on May 15-17 at SSC Hostel Function Hall, Main Campus via Zoom.

The training workshop was organized by Sulu State College in partnership with the Technological University of the Philippines led by Asso.Prof. Froilyn Jamawadi. The training aimed to impart knowledge on intellectual property rights to protect their present and future legal documents, products, and innovations as well as to apply basic principles in patent searching using simple and advanced searching to be able to frame results in patent drafting reports. The 3-day training workshop was enriched with different resource speakers introduced by Mrs. Yoko Iribani.

On Day 1, the first speaker Mr. Jonel R. Macalisang, Director, TLO, and Manager, ITSO talked about Intellectual Property Awareness which covers copyrights, trademarks, and patents.

On Day 2, Patent Searching and Drafting Patent Report were also tackled by Asso. Prof. Jerry G. Ligaya, Technical Expert, ITSO, and Head, MET Department which covers the significant process of patent searching and patent drafting reports. The participants also presented their outputs on patent searching and patent drafting reports.

Finally on day 3, awarding of plaques and certificates to the resource person and participating schools of Sulu State College was held.

Present also during the training was the College President Prof. Charisma S. Ututaum, CESE. The event was concluded by Prof. Nelson Julhamid, Vice President for Academic Affairs.

With this, Sulu State College would like to thank the resource speakers for sharing their expertise on this matter truly it will make a significant impact on the institution.
