Marking the celebration of the Bangsamoro founding anniversary, the Ministry of Public Order and Safety organized the Bangsamoro Peace Forum with the theme “A Journey Towards Mutual Understanding, Peaceful Co-Existence, and a Shared Future in the Bangsamoro” on January 23, 2024, at Sumadja Hall, Sulu Provincial Capitol.

As a distinguished resource speaker, College President Prof. Charisma Samparani Ututalum CESE, graced the peace forum, representing the academic sector. In her address, she shared profound insights and lessons from the academic realm, underscoring the pivotal role of education and the power of collaborative efforts across all sectors to achieve enduring peace and sustainable development in the region and the nation.

During her speech, Prof. Ututalum remarked, If we do not have peace, it only means that we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” This reflection emphasizes the profound connection between peace and a shared sense of humanity.

And as she concludes her message, “Lastly, may I whisper this to your hearts… Nothing is impossible with a willing mind. We do not need guns and bombs to achieve peace; we need love and compassion.”

This touching conclusion serves as a reminder that the true path to peace lies not in weapons but in the transformative and unifying forces of love and compassion.

Prof. Ututalum, the college president, strongly advocates for the transformative power of love in fostering peace, highlighting the belief that genuine understanding and compassion are the key ingredients for achieving lasting harmony among the Bangsamoro people.

Furthermore, this initiative aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), primarily UNSDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. It reflects UNSDG 16 by contributing to peace and promoting inclusive societies.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Ministry of Public Order and Safety for organizing the impactful Bangsamoro Peace Forum and for having the SSC President, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, represent the academic sector to share insights on the crucial role of education in achieving lasting peace.

We look forward to continued collaboration and collective efforts to realize the shared goals of peace and sustainable development.
