Sulu State College celebrated its most special day, the celebration of its 42nd founding anniversary and its 100-year celebration as an academic institution, with the theme “METAMORPHOSIS OF EXCELLENCE: “Embracing Transformation and Advancing the Groundwork for Sustainable Progress.”

The ceremony was formally opened by the college president, Prof. Charisma S. Ututalum, CESE, followed by a message from the CHED secretary, Hon. J. Prospero E. De Vera III, and, of course, a message from the Governor of Sulu, Hon. Abdusakur M. Tan.

As the college president delivered her message, she emphasized how grateful the SSC community is for having the CHED Chairman, Popoy De Vera III, and Governor Abdusakur Tan with us and celebrating this special moment for the SSC community.

Aside from the presence of the distinguished guests and college officials, the opening ceremony came alive with the intermission number presented by the Alumni Stalwarts Performing Artists of SSC and the presentation of the Band Corp, which immensely showcased its tune of excellence.

The founding anniversary celebration is proof of values and actions that align with varied SDGs, such as gender equality, reduced inequality, peace, justice, and strong institutions. The participation and recognition of different teams and individuals regardless of gender bring about gender equality, while the inclusive celebration of various teams and individuals suits the goal of reducing inequalities within the SSC community. In addition, the presence of respected individuals in leadership positions upholds the principles of peace, justice, and strong institutions.

It is also embodying the core values of SSC, such as solidarity, professionalism, integrity, and excellence, within the SSC community.

Our gratitude goes to the organizing team headed by Mr. Almashin S. Lipae, DPA, CAO,along with the Board Secretary Office headed by Ms. Ayesha Rema Tan, DPA, and the Office of Student Affairs and Service under Mr. Saurajan S. Darawi with the Central Student Government.
